Oh man

I didn’t realize that my MIL had sent this book in a large collection last month. Tonight, Harry pulled it out of the bookshelf, wanting me to read it to him. I burst into tears on the spot, much to his puzzlement. I cried off and on for the next 15 minutes … I don’t know how anyone can get through that book without falling to bits, but maybe the requirement is that you’re not a hormonal mess 99.99999% of the time.

I cried openly at the school book fair yesterday when I stumbled upon this book and made the mistake of opening it up and reading it in public: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7872956

That book is not allowed in my house. And I tend to avoid his other books in storytime for fear that the book may find its way into some unprepared mother’s hands.

It makes me cry and all, but don’t you think, just a little, that the mother in the story has some pretty serious attachment issues?

I always choke up when I see that book too, I thought I was the only one! Then again I do have mother issues. 🙂

  5. Since “The Giving Tree” can make me cry, I may need to avoid th this book. I hadn’t heardof it before. I may have to check it out, despite the tears.

  6. Please excuse my awkward sentences and horrid spelling on my comment. For some reason, I can barely see what I am typing on your site.

I can understand how it would make hormonal people cry, but I think this book is creepy and somewhat horrifying.
I pray that I am dead before my poor sweet son has to carry my bony ass up the stairs.
